Pre-flight check:
OpenCommit requires two-factor authentication (2FA) for all accounts.
Step 1 – Register#
- Go to OpenCommit
- Click Register
- Fill in:
- Username
- Email address
- Password
- Click Register account
Required Agreement
By creating an account, you agree to:
- The Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
- Follow the Code of Conduct in all interactions
- Use the platform responsibly and ethically
- Accept that the service is provided “as is” without warranties
Step 2 – Verify your email#
After registering:
- Check your email inbox
- Open the message from OpenCommit
- Click the verification link
If you don’t see the email:
- Check your spam folder
- Wait a few minutes and try again
Step 3 – Enable Two-Factor Authentication (required)#
Tip:
Here we assume you use an authenticator app, but we also support hardware keys like a Yubikey.
OpenCommit requires 2FA before you can use your account.
- Go to Settings → Security
- Click Enroll into two-factor authentication
- Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (e.g. Aegis, Authy, Google Authenticator)
- Enter the verification code and click Verify
- Save your recovery codes
You won’t be able to use your account without completing this step.
✅ Done#
Your account is now ready to use.
Notes#
- Your username appears in repository URLs
(e.g.opencommit.eu/username/repo) - Your email is private by default
