Brand Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in representing OpenCommit! These guidelines and assets are provided to help you use our brand correctly when linking to your profile, mentioning us in articles, or integrating with our platform.

Our logo is the primary identifier of OpenCommit. We provide it in two main formats: the Full Wordmark (Icon + Text) and the Icon Only.

Assets to Provide:#

Version Usage:#

  • Preferred version: We prefer users to use the colour or colour-edged versions of assets at all times.
  • Positive (Colour/Dark): Use on white or light-coloured backgrounds.
  • Negative (Colour-Edged/White): Use on dark backgrounds or photography.
  • Icon Only: Best for social link bars, favicons, or small UI elements where space is limited.

Consistency in how our name is written helps build brand recognition.

  • Correct: OpenCommit
  • Incorrect: Open Commit, opencommit, Open-Commit, OC

Note: OpenCommit is always written as one word with a capital O and capital C.

When referrerring specifically to the OpenCommit Foundation, the “Foundation” text is legally part of the name.

  • Incorrect: Foundation OpenCommit, OpenCommit foundation, OpenCommit, OC Foundation, OpenCommit Stichting

Usage Guidelines#

We want to make it easy for you to link back to us. Please follow these simple rules:

✅ Do:#

  • Use the high-resolution assets provided above.
  • Maintain the original aspect ratio (don’t stretch it).
  • Ensure there is enough “clear space” around the logo so it doesn’t look crowded.
  • Use the Icon-only version for social media linking bars or profile buttons.
  • Use the logo less prominently than your own company or product name or logo.
  • Link to OpenCommit.

❌ Don’t:#

  • Rotate or flip the logo.
  • Change the colours of the logo.
  • Incorporate our logo into your own brand’s logo.
  • Add drop shadows, gradients, or other “effects” to the marks.
  • Use the logo in a way that implies an official partnership, endorsement, or sponsorship by OpenCommit without our written permission.

Colour Palette#

If you are designing a custom button or UI element to link to OpenCommit, please use our brand colours:

  • Primary Brand Colour: #004488
