We’re thrilled to welcome you to the documentation site for OpenCommit! We’re a new, small foundation committed to providing a sustainable, free and reliable home for the Free and Libre Open Source Software (FLOSS) community.

While we maintain regular backups and follow industry best practices for data protection, we’re a small team operating on a limited budget right now. We recommend that critical projects also maintain their own external backups as an additional safeguard, just like they should be doing on bigger sites like Github.

This Documentation#

The pages on this documentation site are a work-in-progress. We’re putting them online in this state so you can have a sense of what we’re doing.

Some of the content here is based on documentation from the Forgejo, Codeberg and/or Github documentation under their respective Creative Commons licenses. We’re opting to not rely on links to external documentation (such as that of Forgejo) but rather host it ourselves.

This makes sure we’re being a responsible member of the community by ensuring they don’t receive unneccessary, additional load from our site’s users. It also allows us to be more specific to this service as well as preventing us from having to re-invent the wheel.
